Fight it out with your fellow economists with the best of your models as Kootniti is the ultimate test of your spontaneity and comprehending capability. Preliminary Level

This is a team event. A college can field any number of teams. Each team must have 3 participants. Cross college teams and OTSE are not permitted. Last date to register for the event is September 5, 2017 There will be on online elimination round before the start of the fest A mini questionnaire will be provided to all the registered teams after their registration process is complete. They must submit it duly filled by September 7. The instructions and judgment criteria (if any) will be mentioned with the questionnaire The Top 6 teams will qualify for the Stage level

Stage Level

  • In the stage level, there will be two rounds. Both of these rounds will be held on day 2 of the fest
  • Round 1 is about selection of a model of development. A hypothetical nation and its economic situation will be presented to the teams who qualify, in a concept note. Along with this a list of economic models (like Nurkse or Balance-Imbalance theory) will also be given
  • Each team must choose a model of development after having carefully studied and analysed the concept note
  • The teams are required to produce a 5-7 minute presentation (oral + PowerPoint) in which they showcase how exactly they intend to solve the nation's problems through that model
  • For analysing the concept note and preparing the presentation, teams will be given a period of 7 days before the fest. This is when the results for the elimination round will be declared and the concept note and the list of models will be mailed to qualified teams (mostly by September 10).in which they showcase how exactly they intend to solve the nation's problems through that model
  • Judgement criteria for Round 1 –
  • Understanding of the hypothetical economy (10)
  • Understanding of the chosen model of development (10)
  • Application of the model of development to the hypothetical economy (10)
  • Ingenuity (10)
  • Involvement of all participants in the team presentation (5)
  • Overall impact (5)
  • Top 3 teams from Round 1 will qualify for the second and final round of the event
  • Round 2 is about prioritizing and will be a face off one on one debate
  • Each team will have to nominate one member from its team one participant which will represent the team in this round in this round
  • The details, rules and judgment criteria will be revealed on the spot
