How we wish our legislative proceedings went less like bar brawls between people past their prime and more a constructive confluence with substantial youthful representation. So here’s our attempt at being more than just wishful thinkers. Put yourselves in the shoes of a parliamentarian and get ready to deliberate, negotiate, contend and ratify the proceedings of the highest policy making house of our democracy. Be prepared to put your debating and convincing capabilities to test while discussing issues of local and national importance.
So take this ultimate test of rivalry with your brothers and sisters in blood but enemies in chair. It’s time for State of the Nation, Synergy ’15!

No. of participants per team: 2
Round 1- Online Elimination round
- The participants will be emailed the topics on which they need to read. They are required to submit a position paper which should be free from any regional or religious bias.
- The format of the position papers will be emailed to the participants along with the topic and reading material.
- Plagiarism is not permitted and participants found guilty of the same will be disqualified.
- The best ten (subject to change) position papers will be selected and the respective teams will be divided into parties for and against the motion.
Round 2- Final round
- Qualifying teams will be divided into fictional political parties and each party will have to submit a draft.
- The draft will be formulated from a collection of 5 clauses which interest you the most on the selected topic.
- It will be further discussed and debated on the final day in the parliament.
- On the basis of the debate among the various parties, the bill will be further passed/rejected in the house.
Judgment Criteria:
- Aptness of the position paper, fluency, originality, persuasiveness
Notes:
- Dress code: Indian formals
- Plan of action and the parliamentary proceeding of the event will be duly mailed to the qualifying teams before the event.
